The last time I wrote some kind of "reflection & new years" article was back in 2018. And now, we're almost done with 2020! This year, each of us had to make sacrifices, pivot, persist, and deal- our lives changed.
So,
Before I reflect back on my highlights,
before I share with you one of my biggest challenges,
and before I look into the new year,
I want to say:
✨THANK YOU✨
Thank you so much for all the support in 2020 ! 🙌
As always, I appreciate everyone’s support, and thank you for all the positive vibes throughout the years!
These following highlights made me very happy but also give me so much perspective, motivation and drive for a powerful 2021:
2020 was the year that I built up a considerable international clientele with the best golfers I could ever imagine. My international colleagues continued to inspire & motivate me all along to raise the bar.
With golfers in my 1:1 remote coaching program in multiple parts of The U.S.A., Holland, Belgium and England. And this week I had a conversation with a Canadian golfer who lives in BC. So wonderful that LP Golf Performance is across the border.
I continued working with my amazing genius long term golfers, were some of them even reached their 5th year together with me as their coach. I couldn't be more thankful for this!!
I launched my online training platform Fundamental Routines, coached a sold out successful Golf Yoga Retreat in the South of Spain, dove deep into shadow work with my coach, got inspired by my friends and felt more aligned with my journey then ever before.
Jut before I left to Spain in February, just before the world 'stopped', I completed a personal dream of mine that has been on my vision board since 2010!
In addition, many of my clients experienced their personal best rounds and lowered their handicap tremendously, which I am so proud of.
13 brand new columns were published in Nationaal Golfmagazine, 10 exclusive next level golf fitness instructions in Golfers Magazine that reached a total of around 10.000 and 20.000 golfers in the BeNeLux respectively.
I was interviewed nearly 10 times by local & global podcast hosts to speak about golf yoga & fitness. Released a FREE golf fitness warming up poster and just months later I gave away the video version as a bonus. Of course so many of you followed along during the free golfyoga fitness facebook sessions earlier this year.
I joined the Golf Fitness Mastermind. Had an article published on the mytpi.com website, hosted a live golfyoga session on Me And My Golf instagram.
And just when the year started my mission was shared through a beautiful in depth interview from Editor in Chief Martijn Paehlig of Golfers Magazine.
Established new amazing collaborations, grew standing relationships with long term partners
I read more books than ever, became SuperSpeed Level 3 certified, did a few other online courses, studied a lot, cooked many delicious whole food plant based meals, I started baking a bit, experienced the most structured evening & sleep routine ever, enjoyed a girls weekend at the beach, had many deep conversations over coffee's with my best friends, created more fluid systems in my business - okay that last one, is still a work in progress ;)-
Do you ever reflect on your year highlights, lessons, moments of joy & steps?
And just like that, it’s easy to neglect the other side of the coin. There’s no Yin without the Yang. There’s no up without the down. There’s no summer without winter. What I’m trying to say is that the highs wouldn't be there without the lows. These lows are equally, if not more important part on the journey of reflection, performance and growth.
Everything we do in life is part of a plan. Sometimes that plan goes as intended, and sometimes it doesn't. That's part of the plan. Realizing this is a highlight in itself.
So… OF COURSE I had my fare share of difficult challenges, faced a hard decision, moments that made me doubt everything, was forced to go out of my comfort zone on the daily, had to let go of a few limiting beliefs (both personal & business wise) was confronted and looked honestly into the mirror many times... And well, it's 2020, what more to add.
For me for so many years, I’ve had this very challenging kind of contrasting relationship with my phone, with social media, because somehow, I do a lot of my work through this magical little device and my laptop; you know, I’m able to connect to people in all corners of the world thanks to this device. So, there’s something so powerful, and beautiful, and has so much potential about that, that I can do this work and link with people who need this.
And at the same time, you know, this phone of mine, it steals so much of my peace. And I know many feel the same way. I know I struggle, with that balance between, “how can I use this for the tool that it is versus letting this device actually control my life, or control my day or mood?”
And if you've been following me over the past years, you know I have talked and shared many of my experiences around social media fasting.
What is working for me now:
no double screening
put my phone on airplane mode from 8pm to 8am
So navigating between purposefully being present online, connecting and sharing my content and staying away from picking up my phone 'out of habit', is a balance I want to achieve more in 2021.
Throwback to the Golf Yoga Retreat in Spain. One of my highlights this year.
I can’t wait to host & coach a beautiful golf-transforming retreat later in 2021!
Who’s with me? 😊🌸
Now looking into the new year...
Almost 6 years ago I made the switch from ‘club fitness manager’ to ‘golf performance coach' and returned back to doing what naturally comes easy for me: inspire golfers to greatness.
In the past decade I have been able to help a lot of golfers to transform, adjust or change their physical capabilities, resulting in transformational game outcomes. Often they had already gone through various fitness programs at local gyms or personal training before they came to work with me. (And ended up achieving their desired results quickly!) Some have started their ‘golf career’ with me as their coach and have been along since they first stepped into the world of golf training. Some were here to step up their own golf teaching game for their students. All of which I’m very grateful for.
Still, to quote my mentor @jasonglasslab :
“fulfillment occurs when your passions are expressed through your work in a manner that creates a life of balance. Balance is created when the yin and yang of life’s challenges and rewards are in harmony. The eb and flow of risk and reward, stress and relief, struggle and peace, create personal growth and a sense of purpose.”
I also have a huge soft spot for - and a lot of experience with - life transforming events (I founded the Golf Yoga Retreat in 2019 for a reason).
That is why I have chosen not to offer short consultations or one off sessions at all. The very wanted workshops are also now upgraded to my online training platform ‘Fundamental Routines’, something that can help thousands of golfers to experience the benefits of GolfYoga & Fitness.
My greatest contribution lies in my four- and twelve-month 1:1 coaching programs in which I help golfers with turning their game story into a success story.
So as of 2021, I’m super thrilled that I will be doing what I love most, with returning & new coachees.
